Conference Theme
As we look for inspiration and encouragement in ministry to the kind of world in which we live, 4th Century church history may not be the most obvious place to turn. But it was the great preacher of that era John Chrysostom who put his finger on the challenge of ministry with extraordinary perceptiveness. He described the role of the preacher as that of standing ‘between two worlds’. On the one hand he lives and labours in the world of God’s word, while on the other he lives and labours in the world of those to whom he ministers. His need to understand the latter is just as crucial as that of understanding the former if he is to preach effectively to the people of his day. Our goal at this year’s conference is to catch the vision for what this means in the world in which we are called to labour.
